Dear GE Friends,
Happy New Year from everyone at Great Expectations! This is an exciting time of the year for schools to be designated as GE Model Schools. Below are a few pictures that represent the many January building-level Model School celebrations.
We encourage each GE Model School to send pictures of your event to greg@geok.org so they can be featured on the GE Facebook page and possibly in future newsletters. Our grand GE Model School Celebration will be on Wednesday, February 15, at 1:30 pm in the University Center Ballroom of UCO. The keynote speaker will be Kristin Shelby, Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. Everyone is invited to attend this great event!
It's not too late to register for the GE Winter Regional Conference! On Wednesday, February 15 from 9:00 -12:00, Allan Johnson will speak about "Winning the Hearts and H.E.A.D.S. of your students." Go to the GE website www.greatexpectations.org to register!
GE Summer Institute enrollment brochures will be arriving at your school the end of this month. This year the format is a one-page brochure with lists of courses offered at each site. Full and complete descriptions of each course can be found on the website.
A new service offered by GE is a link on the website called Grant Writing Tools. Any school seeking funding for GE training, mentor consultations or leadership development can download the GE documents provided, attach a cover letter with your specific request, and give the packet to local businesses, civic groups, churches, foundations, etc. Superintendents must always approve such requests.
This month's Practice of the Month is # 11. (Word Identification Skills are used as a foundation for expanding the use of the English language.) This video is available online for use at your school.
Our guest book reviewer this month is GE Mentor, Betty Sheofee. Go to Linda's List on the website to read Betty's review of The Highly Engaged Classroom by Robert J. Marzano and Debra J. Pickering.
Have you shared with all of your Dallas-Fort Worth friends about the GE Institute coming to their cities on June 26 - 29 of 2012? It will be held at Coppell High School. The Dallas-Fort Worth Summer Institute promotional brochure can be found on the web site.
Great Expectations is launching a new "GE Leadership Development Training" series for school districts. Facilitated by Dr. Leo Presley, the eight days of leadership training are brought directly to the school district. As many as 30 school and district leaders can experience the training together, on site. Call the GE office for more information. (1-918-444-3735)
Great Expectations is now the total package for school transformation. Educators trained in GE Methodology and electives at Summer Institute, school support for teachers and principals provided by GE Mentors, and now leadership development training provided in your town for all district leaders, complete the package for school transformation. GE is truly "Transforming Lives Through Education."
